'JAG Continues' Intro: FWFS Reference
A/N: I merely include the following as reference for my story, which picks up the moment the JAG series finale, ‘Fair Winds
and Following Seas,’ left off.
In this final episode, Mac and Harm finally confront their feelings for each other after Mac is selected to move to San Diego
to head up the new Joint Legal Services, Southwest, and Harm is chosen to go to London to become Force Judge Advocate,
Europe, which would come with his promotion to Captain.
I have purposefully not included any description (other than minimal notes of location, entrances of characters, etc.) or
actions (except kissing, since I interpret that as an essential part of the conversation).
Readers might have a better appreciation for parts of my story with the knowledge or reminder of this final dialogue, since characters will refer to some of the following specific lines. Otherwise, things from any season may also be referred to in
my story.

Excerpts from the end of ‘Fair Winds and FollowingSeas’
HARM'S APARTMENT. (Mac shows up in Harm’s open door.)
Harm: “Hey.”
Mac: “Hey yourself. … There’s something so final about a packed suitcase.”
Harm: “Yeah. Not to mention an entirely packed apartment. Ugh. How about you? You packed?”
Mac: “Not completely. … Let’s talk about, uh, … you and me.”
Harm: “Neither one of us -”
Mac: “- wants to be the first to say goodbye. Yeah, I know the song. We’ve been singing it for years.”
Harm: “Mac, … I don’t think that I will ever … feel about anyone else … the way that I feel about you.”
Mac: “… That’s very flattering. … One piece of advice – Don’t share that with your wife, whoever she might be. She might
not understand.”
Harm: “Do you understand?”
Mac: “Why we can’t make it work? Why we’ve let fate decide our futures? No. I don’t.”
Harm: “Let me ask you a personal question. Of all the men in your life, what was it about them that attracted you?”
Mac: “… Well, they wanted me, and … they let me know it.”
Harm: “I wanted you. You knew that.”
Mac: “Harm, no woman wants to be a mind reader, and with you there’s always complications – another woman, work,
searching for your father.”
Harm: “That’s all past.”
Mac: “Is it?”
Harm: “Mac, we have twelve hours.”
Mac: “We’ve had nine years.”
Harm: “I guess maybe I just needed a deadline.”
Mac: “Well, you got one, - sailor.”
(Harm initiates kiss. Lots of kissing follows.)
Mac: “What are you proposing? - And that’s not a Freudian slip.”
Harm: “… I’m proposing. … Let’s get married.”
(More kissing.)
Mac: “In London?”
Harm: “Well, London works for me.”
Mac: “Well, San Diego works for me.”
Harm: “… This has always been the 500-pound gorilla in the room.”
Mac: “If we get married, one of us has to give up their Navy careers.”
Harm: “Well, we could wait until I retire.”
Mac: “Yeah, what’s another decade or so, huh?”
Harm: “I love you, Mac. But I don’t want to give up my Navy career, and you don’t want to give up the Marine Corps.”
Mac: “So we’re right back where we started.”
Harm: “… Do you believe in fate?”
Mac: “Well, it put us together … sort of.”
Harm: “Fate could keep us together forever.”
(Even more kissing.)
-------
MCMURPHY'S TAVERN. (Harm is sitting at bar, dressed up in formal, captain’s mess dress uniform.)
Johanna (Bartender): “What put that smile on your face?”
Harm: “Well, I just got engaged. … I mean, uh, at least, I think I did.”
Johanna: “Don’t you think you ought to find out?”
Harm: “Kind of why I’m here now.”
(Mac enters wearing nice evening dress. Harm stands.)
Mac: “Hey.” (They kiss in greeting.)
…
Johanna: “Figures a guy like him would be with a girl like you.”
Mac: “Ha. … Well, we’re still working on that.”
Johanna: “Oh, so that makes you the almost-fiancée.”
Mac: “That’s the part we’re working on.”
Johanna: “I don’t see a ring.”
Mac: “We’re negotiating that.”
Johanna: “Lucky you.”
Mac: “Yeah, lucky me.”
(Bud and Harriet enter - congrats shared; … Sturgis and Jennifer enter; … Finally, General Cresswell enters.)
…
Cresswell: (to Coates) “I got your message. I thought you said you had a flat tire, no spare.”
Coates: “Uh, Captain Rabb ordered me to get you here, sir, any way I could, so, uh, I lied. I knew you wouldn’t come
otherwise, and this might be a surprise to you, but it wouldn’t be the same without you here, sir.”
…
Cresswell: “Colonel. I understand you’re taking my Petty Officer to San Diego.”
Coates: “Uh, I haven’t found the right moment to ask the Colonel, sir.”
Mac: “I would love to take her, sir, - with your blessing.”
Harm: “Well, that’s if the Colonel is actually going to San Diego.”
Cresswell: “You’re not thinking of turning down the assignment?”
Mac: “Um …”
Harm: “Mac and I have an announcement to make. … We’re getting married.”
Coates: “Congratulations!”
Cresswell: “Outstanding. I knew you’d finally come around to the Marines.”
Harm: (with laugh) “Yeah.”
Mac: “In either London or San Diego.”
Harm: “And for this marriage to be successful, one of us has to resign our commission.”
Mac: “And it’s no surprise that we couldn’t decide which one.”
Harm: “So we’re going to let fate decide. … Bud?”
Bud: “When Admiral Chegwidden retired, he gave me his JAG coin, and I thought that this would be the perfect moment to
use it. Here is the side with heads … and this is the side with tails. The bride-to-be will call.”
Mac: “Uh, … Tails.”
Bud: “I always wanted to do this at the Super Bowl. … Here goes.”
