At Your Service
by Lace
Harm hurried down the steps from his bedroom and ran over to the ringing phone.
“Hello.”
“Hi, Sailor.”
“Mac!” He lit up like a light. “I was hoping I'd hear from you today.”
“I'm sorry about the lack of contact, but I've been on the road for a few days and when I'm that far away from base ... Well, you know how it is here. It's just inconceivable.”
“Yeah, I know.” He slumped down on the couch. “So how long's it been since I last saw you?”
“It's been nine days, eight hours, forty minutes, ten seconds ... Something like that.” She laughed softly by her own silliness. “I guess I've been keeping track of the time.”
“Tell me about it,” he whispered with longing.
“But I have some good news.”
“Are you coming home?” he asked hopefully.
“Are you lonely?” she teased.
“It seems like everywhere everyone's in love, and I'm all alone,” he whined.
She laughed softly. “Well, I'm coming home. I'll be leaving tomorrow.”
“That's the best news I've gotten, ever.” He smiled to the empty room as he heard some strange voices on Mac's end.
“Looks like I have to go. I have a few things to wrap up before I leave.”
“Be careful.”
“Always.”
“I love you.”
“I love you more.”
“See you soon.”
“Bye.”
Two days later
Harm's apartment
Mac entered Harm's apartment and dropped her bag on the floor. She looked around and was surprised when she noticed that the apartment was empty and dark. Some welcome home, she thought.
Then her cellphone rang.
Harm's number. “Hello, Sailor.”
“Hi, Mac. Are you at my apartment?” His voice was hopeful.
“All alone, yes, I am,” she said with a pout that he couldn't see.
“Sorry about that, but Captain Fletcher decided to make court run late today. Typical, huh?” he complained.
“Yeah. So, where are you?”
He smiled as he opened his car door. “Leaving JAG as we speak.”
“Hurry home then,” she said as she heard him start the engine.
“I will.”
“But drive carefully,” she warned.
“I promise.”
“See you soon.”
“I can't wait.”
Harm's apartment
That night
Harm woke up when he felt kisses down his chest. “I'm sleeping, Mac.”
“Not anymore.” She found her way up his chest and kissed his mouth.
“You couldn't get enough, so you had to wake me up. That's quite the compliment, Mac.” He started touching her body.
“I can never get enough of you,” she responded in a husky voice.
“I'm at your service, ma'am.”
